The OSU Plant Clinic is a diagnostic facility housed in the Department of Botany and Plant Pathology. As part of the Oregon State University Cooperative Extension Service, the primary mission of the Plant Clinic is educational. Extended education is provided by helping the client recognize the nature of the plant or insect problem (diagnosis) and by disseminating information needed to manage the disease or problem using proper control methods, including chemical, cultural, and biological measures. The Plant Clinic places major emphasis on educating clients in proper management methods that will prevent problems, rather than merely reacting to problems after they develop. The Plant Clinic offers significant, unbiased support based on laboratory tests to those directly related to production agriculture, field representatives of chemical and fertilizer companies, Master Gardeners, home gardeners, and employees of State and Federal organizations in Oregon and elsewhere.
