Dry Farming Program

OSU Dry Farming Progam: Support & Partnership Opportunities

Join us to grow a future of water‑resilient agriculture in Oregon. Together, we create practical, community‑driven solutions that strengthen farm viability and build a more resilient food system for future generations.

The Dry Farming Program started in 2013 as a partnership with a small group of innovative farmers, to create demonstrations and case studies.

Today, we have grown into a regional partnership with hundreds of growers, researchers, plant breeders, and likeminded organizations across the Pacific Northwest.

Your support expands our reach and impact:

  • Community Networking & Outreach: Dry Farming Collaborative listserv, online community spaces, and gatherings to support peer learning and grower‑to‑grower exchange.
  • Research trials, demonstrations, & field days: increasing our shared knowledge, demonstrating dry farming in practice, and highlighting farmer innovations, at OSU research farms and partner farms.
  • Plant materials for participatory research: we provide plant material to farmers for variety trials and participatory breeding through the Dry Farming Collaborative.
  • Educational resources & technical outreach: Extension publications, videos, case studies, and online tools help growers understand dry farming principles, site suitability, crop selection, and soil management strategies.

Climate adaptation tools & collaborative research: participatory climate‑resilience research informs tools for growers, educators, and partner organizations across the Pacific Northwest and beyond.
